In order to be eligible to live in on-campus housing you must be a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student. Full-time or part-time students must be enrolled in at least 6 units of undergraduate/graduate classes per term.

University policy states that all single full-time traditional undergraduate students must live on-campus unless they meet and can provide documentation for the following through the Housing Exception Application:

1. Student is legally married to a person of the opposite 性 and can submit a marriage certificate.
2. Student is an Abilene area resident 生活 with their parent(s) when applying to HSU and wishes to continue 生活 in their parent(s) home. (Please note: The Abilene area is considered within a 25-minute commute to the HSU campus via Google 地图.)
3. Student is 21 years old by August 1 for the fall semester or by January 1 for students admitted for the spring semester.

All University Housing Options remain open over most holiday breaks with the exception of Residence Halls over the extended Christmas Holidays. Residence Hall Residents may apply through a Christmas Housing process each Fall to be approved to remain in housing for some or all of the Holiday period.
